Our journey began with a vision to create a sanctuary where guests can experience tranquility and comfort while feeling a deep resonance to nature. Your Home Away From Home
Nestled within the gated community of Alma Verde in Garza, Azafrán Gardens is a serene retreat across from the Blue Spirit Retreat Center. Perched 600 feet up the mountain, our property offers stunning canopy and ocean views with unmatched privacy.
Upon arrival, the guard will open the gates, and you’ll follow signs up a foliage-lined paved road to our thatched-covered carport. Park and enter through the gates, leading down crafted stone steps to the main entrance of our beloved casa.
Garza is just a scenic 15-minute drive from Nosara's lively center, allowing you to explore local attractions while enjoying the tranquility of your escape.
Settle In With Ease
Once your booking is confirmed, we will provide you with all the easy-to-understand details needed to access the house. Additionally, you will receive a comprehensive guide covering everything you need to know about the property and its amenities. To enhance your stay, we include a curated list of our favorite shopping and dining suggestions, as well as recommendations for preferred tour guides and activities.
Elevated Living Spaces
Azafrán Gardens features a gourmet kitchen, complete with a top-of-the-line coffee machine and outdoor grill for those who love to cook. This state-of-the-art kitchen can also be utilized by our optional for-hire chef, who will prepare delicious dishes and drinks to keep everyone satisfied and well-fed. Adjacent to the kitchen is the open living room, a cozy space stocked with games, books and a professional-grade telescope for admiring the stunning views and the enchanting jungle sky.
Private Bed and Bath
Azafrán Gardens comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests, offering a luxurious retreat with four beautifully appointed bedrooms. The home features three master king bedrooms and a spacious El Barco Room with two queen beds and a cozy lounge area. All bedrooms have private bathrooms, with two of them also featuring outdoor showers. Each bedroom is designed with your comfort in mind, equipped with premium mattresses and linens to ensure you get the best night's sleep. Air conditioning and ceiling fans are included in each room, allowing you to rest peacefully amidst the tranquility of the jungle.
Endless Options
At the heart of Azafrán Gardens lies our coveted saltwater infinity pool, offering breathtaking views of the jungle canopy and the coast below. Surrounding the pool are several lounge areas, perfect for soaking up the sun and enjoying the serene environment. But the relaxation options don't end there. The property boasts a multitude of lounging spaces, from the main terrace, multiple balconies to gardens, complete with chairs and a fire pit. Our yoga studio and upper dining area further enhance the possibilities for outdoor entertainment, lounging, and relaxation, making Azafrán Gardens the ultimate retreat.
Guests can also enjoy the outdoor vegetable and fruit gardens, harvesting fresh produce with the assistance of our gardener for a delightful farm-to-table experience. Soon, bee boxes will be added to the property, offering a "sweet" addition to this unique and serene retreat.

Azafrán Gardens features a yoga shala, perfect for yoga sessions, workouts, or mindful gatherings. The space is fully equipped with yoga mats, a TRX system, and a selection of free weights for training. For those seeking guided sessions, we offer the option to book a local yoga or fitness instructor to facilitate classes upon request. (fees apply) The choice is yours to enhance your stay with personalized wellness experiences.
The Spirit of Pura Vida
The house is fully equipped with everything you might need, embodying the philosophy of Pura Vida. We invite you to make yourself at home and enjoy the relaxed, personal atmosphere. Although our structure differs from a hotel, please know that we are available if needed. Our goal is to provide you with all the information and amenities up front so you can simply be present. Additionally, beach supplies and equipment, including two new beach cruisers, beach chairs, towels, and coolers, can be rented with a fully refundable deposit. However, if anything arises that requires attention or if you have questions, we are always here to assist you to the best of our ability.

A Note From The Owner
Azafrán Gardens is a dream come to life. Growing up between New England and Virginia, I have always had a deep appreciation and connection to nature; amongst the trees and outdoor spaces, I feel most at home. As life progressed, I spent decades working and living a fast-paced lifestyle in a cement jungle. Even with an admiration for the city, nature beckoned. As I became more connected to myself, my health, and overall well-being, I was drawn to this region of Costa Rica specifically because it's a Blue Zone—an area of the world where people live longer without disease and tend to be happier and more mentally and spiritually connected.
Upon my visits to the Nicoya Peninsula, I fell in love with the landscape, the beautiful beaches, the surf, wildlife, and natural, raw jungle. The convenience of the town and its amenities, along with the cultural and conscious community, was a huge plus. So, I decided to make a home where I could come to recoup and rejuvenate. The inspiration for naming the home came from the coveted spice saffron, known for its spiritual and healing powers, symbolizing purity, cleansing, and the ability to promote spiritual growth and clarity. For me Azafrán Gardens is a sanctuary that embodies all that saffron symbolizes.
